School Information & Dress Code


County-Wide Standardized Dress Code
School Year 2001-2002

Students shall dress and groom in a clean, neat and modest manner so as not to distract or interfere with the educational process or cause a safety hazard. Inappropriate dress will not be allowed. Students are encouraged to adhere to the provisions of this code at on or off campus school sponsored events, after regular school hours.

Violations may result in the following consequences: First Violation, the student will be sent home with an unexcused absence or the parents will be notified to bring appropriate clothing to school. Second violation, the student will be suspended for a parent conference. Third violation will result in a one, two or three day suspension from school. The Principal’s judgment will prevail in all matters regarding the application of these rules.

ALL STUDENTS K-12

  1. The following shall NOT be worn at school or school sponsored events during regular school hours:
    1. Clothing or accessories that denote affiliation with any gang associated with criminal activity is safety hazard or is a security risk.
    2. Ill fitting clothing such as saggy/baggy pants or oversized coats, sweaters, sweatshirts, etc.
    3. Spandex clothing.
    4. Clothing with holes, ragged edges, or with patches of different colors or fabric.
    5. Clothing with suggestive or inappropriate slogans, vulgar captions, or advertisements for tobacco, alcohol or drug products.
    6. Caps, hats or head scarves, for boys or girls, will not be worn inside buildings.
    7. Form fitting or boy fitting clothes.
    8. Clothing with revealing necklines.
    9. Extreme hair color, makeup and/or nail color.
    10. Any "overall" type clothing.
  2. The following rules will be enforced for ALL students:
    1. Any color or style of shoes may be worn to school. No Flip-Flops or shoes with thongs between the toes will be permitted. Shoes must have at least a back strap. It is strongly suggested that expensive designer dress shoes and expensive gym shoes not be worn to school.
    2. Leggings will be worn only with approved length dresses and skirts.
    3. Shorts/Skirts/Dress length will be no shorter than FOUR inches from the middle of the knee.
    4. Slits in skirts/dresses will be no higher than FOUR inches from the middle of the knee.
    5. Pant legs must not drag FLAGRANTLY on the floor.
    6. No tinted glasses/sunglasses are permitted unless they are doctor prescribed.
    7. No body piercing jewelry except for earrings I the earlobe, for boys and girls.
    8. Jewelry must not be distracting/disruptive or unsafe.
    9. Large heavy jewelry chains will not be permitted.
    10. Valuable clothing and jewelry are discouraged.
    11. Shirts must be tucked in when wearing slacks, jeans, shorts or skirts.
    12. Tops, blouses and shirts must fit so as not to reveal undergarments.
    13. All trench duster style coats that fall below the knee are prohibited.
    14. NO CARGO STYLE POCKETS. "CARGO" STYLE PANTS ARE NOT PERMITTED.

    STUDENTS IN GRADES 6 – 12 ONLY

    Casual or dress slacks, denim jeans, shorts (all must be worn above the hip at the waistline), dresses, jumpers or skirts, as appropriate. Pull-over or button-up style shirts with collars TO INCLUDE TURTLE OR MOCK-TURTLE NECKS. No crew-necked shirts are permitted.

    SWEATERS/VESTS: Crewneck, V-neck or cardigan pullover or fleece/cotton pullovers may be worn. The proper shirt must be worn under the sweater. Sweater length cannot to below the hip line.

  3. Special Dress Days may be designated by the principal to include but not limited to the following examples: Field Days, Picture Days, School Spirit Days, etc.

    4.   If a students cannot comply with this standardized dress code based on religious
          beliefs or their physical characteristics, his or her parent or guardian may provide
          written explanation to the principal for possible relief from certain aspects of the
          code.

    5.   This policy is effective February 14, 2000
